Vai - oh my...
Vai is matter of taste no doubt about it. While some are absolutely
delighted by the beauty of the palm tree forest others are shocked.
Vai is pure mass tourism. There's almost no difference to the
hot spots on the north coast. Expensive restaurants and souvenir
shops and wild celebrations. Vai - this is where its at!

Vai - pure mass tourism |
The attraction for lump sum
Vai is one of the large attractions of Crete and offered by
many tour operators. Starting at the end of April endless bus
caravans, which take their way over the monastery Toplou, bring
thousands to the outermost end of Crete.
Rent-a-car drivers and columns of scooters
turn their vehicles to the large and expensive parking lot.
At the fine and very maintained beach you will be attacked immediately
from those offering beach chairs and screens. "Funny happy
people" are pulled along the sea on "rubber sausages"
by racing speedboats, noisy water scooters are all around.

Vai in the evening
- deserted |
In the evening a different world
Those coming in the evening won't trust their eyes. No one is
to be seen and although entering the beach is forbidden in the
evening and at night I urgently recommend to come here in a
warm summers night. The atmosphere is fantastic just like in
the Caribbean, the sea is warm and calm. This is the way having
fun at Vai.
